World Scholar’s Cup

Over the past weekend  21 – 22 March, the students who attend debate club again took part in the regional round of the World Scholar’s Cup in which high school and middle school students from all over Slovenia joined to collaborate, communicate, challenge each other and have fun. The first day took place in Ivnačna Gorica where the students demonstrated their knowledge on this year’s topic Are We There Yet? in three events: collaborative writing, scholar’s challenge and, most importantly, team debate. The second day was held in Ljubljana at Festivalna dvorana, and proved to be less stressful as they only had to compete in the scholar’s bowl. The day concluded with a talent show and the award ceremony. Overall, the students were very successful – here are some of the top awards in the junior and senior divisions:

Individual debater:

2^nd place junior – Pranav, 7M

5^th place senior – Karin, 8M

Team debate:

1^st place junior – Pranav, Samarth 7M

3^rd place senior – Karin, Neda, Mikhail 8M

Individual writing:

1^st place junior – Ekaterina, 6M

4^th place junior – Pranav, 7M

2^nd place senior – Neda, 8M

Team writing:

1^st place junior – Ekaterina, Mina, Alisha 6M

Team bowl:

4^th place senior – Karin, Neda, Mikhail 8M
