The 1M students will visit the Slovenian School Museum on Friday, October 11.  The students should come to school as usual, at 08:10. They will need school bags, pencil cases and they should also remember to bring their yellow scarfs. After a short discussion about their expectations and school in the past, we will take snacks and depart from school. We will travel by public bus. The students will experience what school was like in the past and attend one lesson from the times of their grandparents. We will be back by 12:05.

Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher

During European mobility week, on 17th September from 09:00 to 13:00, the 3M students will take an educational walk on Železna cesta– (an area closed for traffic - from Linhartova ulica do Hacquetova ulica). The municipality of Ljubljana has prepared different information stands and a stage with musical performances. The students should wear shoes and clothes that are suitable for the weather. They should also have a small bag for a snack and a water bottle.

On Tuesday, 24 September, the PYP students will have a Day of Languages and Multilingualism. The purpose of this collapsed day, which is held in the same week as the traditional European Day of Languages, is to promote our linguistic and cultural diversity and foster students' abilities to communicate in various languages. The collapsed day will take place in school, beginning at 08:20. After four lessons, the students will have lunch and AP as usual.

On 26th September the whole MYP will have a Language Acquisition Day in the city centre. The pupils will work in small groups and utilise their knowledge of the languages taught at our school.

Team work, cooperation, and a little bit of risk-taking will be demanded!

After the scavenger hunt, we will ascend the path to Ljubljana Castle where the pupils will go on a journey through time in “The Time Machine”.

We do not want to reveal too much, but we are certain the students will have a lot of fun!

Meeting: in school 08:10 (taking snack and boarding the buses)

Arriving back in school: at approximately 14:00. Those who have lunch in school will go to the dining room, others will go home.

IMPORTANT!

If the students want to go home after the collapsed day from the city centre, the parents need to send an e-mail to their homeroom teachers by 25th September, 12:00 noon. E-mails sent on the day of the activities will not be checked. Parents will need to pick up those students who request to go home from the city centre at 13:25 in front of the Puppet Theatre (Lutkovno gledališče Ljubljana). If parents are not punctual, the students will have to go back to school with us by bus.

Language Acquisition Team

On Friday, September 20, 2024, the MYP will have a sports day focused on athletics. We will go to the ŽAK stadium where coaches from AD MASS will be waiting for us. We will try out five athletic disciplines. Each pupil’s efforts in all disciplines will be timed/measured so that we can see everyone's results at the end.

We will meet at 08:00 in front of the school, where we will pick up our snacks, and then we will take the city bus to the stadium. We expect to return at around 13:00.

On Monday, 9 September, all grades from PYP and MYP will attend a ballet performance at the Slovenian National Musical Theatre and Ballet Ljubljana. The ballet is based on the story of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, with a new orchestral composition by Aleksandra Naumovski Potisk and choreography by Lukas Zuschlag will be performed by the theatre’s ballet ensemble. The story of The Little Prince addresses themes of loneliness, friendship, love, and loss, and has been adapted to numerous art forms and media, including ballet. As this is an event at a cultural institution, the students should dress nicely for the occasion.

The timetable for the day is:

08:20 – 9:55 two lessons on concert etiquette and story

09:55 – 10:30 active break and snack at school

10:30 – leaving school for Cankarjev dom by bus

11:30 – performance

12:30 – departure for school by bus

13:10 – expected arrival to school – end of cultural day / lunch, AP as usual

On Monday, 9th September, the MYP 3 students will engage in a collapsed day dedicated to the Community Project, a compulsory part of year 3 in IB education. The five lessons will be divided into the introduction of the project and service learning, the setting up of the community project, and the completion of  proposals and the choosing of learning outcomes. The pupils will choose a topic they want to explore as their Service as Action. The Community Project is planned to conclude at the end of December/beginning of January, culminating in a TEDx style event.

The pupils should bring a pen to write with. Snack will be provided as usual and lunch is at 12:55, when the collapsed day ends.

6M students will have a collapsed day on Tuesday, 10 September. During the day they will learn all there is to know about their service as action in the Retirement Home. They will also start the project during and then continue throughout the year. The collapsed day will take place in school, beginning at 08:20 and ending at 13:00. The pupils will have snack and lunch in school.

The following day, on Wednesday, 11 September, 7M and 7I students will have a similar collapsed day connected to their service as action in the International kindergarten. The collapsed day will take place in school, beginning at 08:20 and ending at 13:00. The pupils will have snack and lunch in school.

The 5M pupils will have a cultural day on Tuesday, 18 June. We will gather at the school at 08:00 a.m., and from there, we will proceed to Lutkovno gledališče, Ljubljana, where we will have the opportunity to explore the hidden places at the backstage of the puppet theatre. We anticipate returning around 12:00, followed by a reflection session and a brief workshop on creating simple puppets in the art classroom.

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, 5M will have a sports day focused on athletics. We will go to the ŽAK stadium, where coaches from AD MASS will be waiting for us. We will try out five athletic disciplines. All disciplines will also be measured so that we can see everyone's results at the end.

We will meet at 08:20 in front of the school, where we will pick up our snacks, and then we will take the city bus to the stadium. We expect to return around 12:15.
