As International Mother Language Day was during our winter break on 21 February, we commemorated it during the March library lessons. The students practiced developing new skills, which enabled them to stay connected with their mother tongues. The 6M students practiced reading, giving, and following instructions by playing different board games, writing the rules of the games in their mother tongues. The 7M students cited sources as they researched their mother tongues and created posters that included key information about the languages. Lastly, the 8M students explored IB global contexts and presented their characteristics in their mother tongues. Overall, these activities provided meaningful opportunities for the students to strengthen both their academic skills and their connection to their linguistic and cultural identities.
