From 13 to 14 March, seven of the staff from DKIS travelled to Sofia, Bulgaria – 2026’s venue for the annually held CEESA (Central and Eastern European Schools Association) conference. CEESA is a collaborative network of international schools aimed at enhancing school effectiveness, inspiring student learning and fostering educator development in the region. This year’s theme was The Heart and Art of Teaching — celebrating the blend of skill, creativity, and humanity in education, with some of the keynote speakers highlighting the need for a more considerate, understanding and empathetic approach to teaching. There were many thought provoking workshops to attend covering diverse topics and issues ranging from how to cultivate joy in the classroom, as well as AI and how to utilise it in a positive way, through to creating an environment that stimulates a sense of belonging. In addition to the workshops, there was also the chance to connect and share experiences and insights about education with educators from throughout the region and beyond.
