MYP Library Lessons

Each class in the MYP had monthly library lessons throughout the year. The 6M students took part in book related activities such as searching for information and citing sources, reading comprehension strategies, effective note-taking, learning preferences and how to use the library program, Cobiss. Additionally, they participated in a library and literary treasure hunt, World Book Day escape and read under the trees. The 7M and 7I students also learnt how to cite sources, about how to follow instructions, decode context clues, quote vs summarise vs paraphrase, and they also navigated around the issues of fake news and cyber security. They participated in a literary treasure hunt and read under the trees as well. While the 8M and 8I students covered topics such as citing sources, following instructions, the importance of reading, the dangers of social media, flexible thinking, and also read under the trees. The lessons were a means to support the students’ learning in their everyday subjects, in which they could apply their acquired knowledge and experiences.
