Handwriting Week, 20 – 24 January 🗓

From 20 – 24 January we will pay special attention to handwriting and the role it plays in the learning and writing process. It has been scientifically proven that handwriting, especially joined-ip or cursive writing, has positive long term effects on fine motor skills and cognition; therefore, many education systems are bringing it back to class (e.g. the USA) or keeping paper text books (Sweden).

This year’s topic is interesting – the connection of our most primal sense –smell – to memories and relationships. We all remember how the wet gloves or grandmother’s cookies smelt or the smell of a summer afternoon before a storm or even the newly purchased books for the school year. Each of these memories can become a story of its own and a pen and paper naturally lend themselves to the story writing process. You are, therefore, warmly invited to write down a memory of your own. Parents, teachers and students –  share with us a handwritten memory or two.

We are collecting handwritten works until 7 February.
