Dear 5M parents,
We were informed of an infection with the SARS-CoV-2 in PYP 5, but since the threshold of 30% has not been reached, grade 5M students are not transferring to online learning.

Students who come in close contact with an infected person during a lesson on Thursday, 20 or Friday, 21 January need to self-test in school for 7 days until Wednesday, 26 January. Students do not need to self-test daily if:

  1. they recovered from COVID-19 in the last 45 days (positive PCR test not older than 45 days),
  2. they recovered and have been fully vaccinated,
  3. they have a negative HAG test not older than 24 hours.

We kindly ask you to consent to your child’s self-testing even if your child falls under exceptions 1 & 2.

*** We would like to inform you that our government has changed the requirements for avoiding quarantine; only those who have received a booster dose or are fully vaccinated, recovered or were positive on a PCR less than 45 days ago do not have to quarantine.

All further information and instructions are in the domain of NIJZ (National Institute of Public Health) regarding the quarantine. Parents or legal guardians of students who have been in high-risk contact with an infected person will receive an e-mail. In case there is no e-mail provided, the information will be sent by mail.

The document regarding quarantine exceptions for people in high-risk contact with an infected person with SARS-CoV-2 can be obtained on https://www.nijz.si/en/covid-19-new-regulations-on-home-quarantine. In case you still receive a notice about quarantining despite falling under one of the listed exceptions, please notify the Ministry of Health via e-mail: odlocbe-karantena.mz@gov.si. Please enclose proof of the exception (vaccinated, recovered).

Provided your child has proof for being exempt from quarantine, lessons will be organised in school.
In case your child has not been identified as a high-risk contact but has probably still been in contact with an infected person, it is vital to observe their health closely for 14 days from the date of the last contact with the infected person. If there is any onset of symptoms of Covid-19 (poor health, signs of a cold, cough, fever, difficulties breathing, headache, muscle ache, loss of taste and smell, sore throat…), your child should stay at home. Next, you need to contact your family doctor or a doctor-on-call, where you will receive further guidelines. Finally, the doctor will assess whether your child needs to get a PCR test.

Important information regarding SARS-CoV-2 can be obtained on: https://www.nijz.si/en/coronavirus-disease-covid-19.

Stay safe and healthy!
