1. Students will brainstorm their ideas on how they could improve the school ground or how they could contribute to the school community.
  2. Students will be divided into groups based on their interests and each group will be assigned a mentor.
  3. Groups will receive a timetable for when their action must be completed.

Each group will decide on a month (upon mentor’s approval) during which they will complete their action. Within the group, the students will have to agree on the time when they will work on their action (free lessons (0, 6, 7, 8) or their ATL lesson) amongst themselves as well as with the mentor who will supervise them.

  1. Students will have to make sure that they have uploaded all the evidence of their Service as Action including research, planning, evidence of their action and reflection on their Teams by no later than May 31, 2023.

    Each group MUST:

    1. Be in contact with their mentor regularly.
    2. Have an idea of what they would like to do for the school.
    3. Do an extensive research of their idea. Respect the academic honesty (cite sources).
    4. Prepare a detailed plan of how they will carry out their idea.
    5. Send the plan to their mentor at least 2 weeks prior to when they are scheduled to execute it for the mentor to check and approve.
    6. Be responsible and show up on the appointed day/s.
    7. Be open-minded, risk-takers and good communicators when working on their action.
    8. Write a reflection on 2 learning outcomes: Initiative + Perseverance.
    9. Upload all the evidence of their process on their Teams individually by May 31, 2023.

The mentor supports the students throughout the process. He or she MUST:

    1. Ensure the chosen MYP service as action topic satisfies appropriate legal and ethical standards with regard to health and safety, confidentiality, human rights, animal welfare and environmental issues.
    2. Provide guidance to students in the process and completion of the project as well as provide meaningful feedback.
    3. Confirm the authenticity of the work submitted.
    4. Assess the Service as Action.

In order for the student to be promoted to the next grade, each student must complete the long term Service as Action.

He or she will be assessed with descriptors and the grade and comment will be visible in their report card.
